Martin Lightbowne is a trainer and coach in the home-based business and network marketing industry. He primarily teaches direct-response techniques and methods to entrepreneurs looking to effectively build their businesses.
But not everyone is a Martin Lightbowne fan. In this review, we will look at the good and the not-so-good facts about Martin Lightbowne and his tactics.
Martin Lightbowne – The Good
First off, we can say that Martin has a great understanding of direct-response marketing. He teaches techniques and strategies to boost response with verbal marketing. Many people with small or home-based businesses don't have the first clue when it comes to salesmanship, prospecting, or closing, and that's where Martin seems to shine.
He teaches that you should not waste your time with people who have not expressed a direct interest in what you are marketing. This comes down to qualifying a prospect, and making sure that an entrepreneur is spending their time with a prospect that is truly interested. He also teaches closing, and espouses the philosophy that closing is not about “selling” per se, but rather about helping your prospect make the best decision for them. This differs drastically from most sales trainers, as the defining factor is not about “getting the sale” but rather, being of good service.
Martin Lightbowne also teaches time-management techniques, and is a huge advocate of protecting your time. He advocates using the Pareto principle in defining your activities in your day, and ensuring that you utilize your time for doing that which will give you the largest positive result. He teaches that someone should outsource as much of the mundane administrative as possible in order to focus on that which is truly profitable.
Martin Lightbowne – The Not-So-Good
Not everyone is a fan of Martin Lightbowne. He resides in the United Kingdom, and whether it is culturally influenced or personality influence, Martin can be short and curt with his teaching methods. He is very direct, and that offends certain people. He doesn't sugar-coat his teachings or his messages, and some people come away with the impression that he doesn't have much tact.
Additionally, Martin Lightbowne doesn't sugarcoat the process of success. He believes that any worthwhile endeavor takes plenty of effort, and when someone is just building their skill-set with what he teaches, it takes time and application to see good results. He is up-front about this, but at the same time effort and hard work is a turn-off to some people.
To sum up, Martin is a good teacher when it comes to learning how to grow an effective organization using direct-response marketing techniques. You may not love his tact, but he knows what he is talking about, and he practices what he preaches every day.
