Patio Gas Heaters for Long Summers

By May 13th, 2010

Designing an outdoor space can be fun and practical as it offers an extra area for the family to relax in, and makes an attractive feature. An outdoor room is an extension of your home and you can do anything you want with it, weather permitting of course. Buy a gas barbeque and cook outside, add some tables and chairs and have a dinner party, install a swimming pool, or simply put sun loungers on the patio and chill out.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to make the garden a relaxing place to be, you could just as easily bring the table out and spend the warm summer evenings dining outside. However, if your budget is larger then consider spending some of it on a quality barbeque as this will bring pleasure to family and friends.

Eating and drinking under the starry sky is romantic and exciting for all ages. Some of the most fun families have together are spent on the patio barbequing, not only is the food good but everyone can be involved in its preparation and you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a good time. Choose a place that is out of the wind and offers privacy from the neighbours, add some soft lighting for the evenings and you create an instant cosy ambience. Look online for a traditional charcoal barbeque, or an easy-to-use gas version, specialist companies will deliver anywhere in the UK, often for free.

There are some attractive and affordable garden furniture around these days, choose something that fits in with the surroundings and won’t fade in the sun. If you don’t have a patio or are looking for another option then how about building a small gazebo down at the bottom of the garden for more privacy? Cover it with flowers and twinkly lights and you have the perfect place for a romantic meal with your other half.

If you are intending to spend a lot of time outdoors then you need to be practical – paved and decked areas work the best as they can be kept clean easily and a barbeque and other garden furniture will sit evenly on them. Also if it rains a lot then how about some kind of overhead covering to protect everything from the rain and keep it dry, as well as protection from the strong rays of the sun. You can get anything from a basic umbrella to awnings or shade sails depending on how much time you are planning on spending there and the amount of money you have in your budget.

Primarily your garden space should be about relaxing or entertaining. With the British weather unpredictable at the best of times, patio gas heaters are extremely useful as it means you can spend much longer outside without feeling the cold. There are many stylish stainless steel models on the market at affordable prices, a basic model at the cheaper end of the scale could provide you with a heat output of between 3-12kw, flame failure safety control and wheels for easy movement. At the higher end of the scale you can expect the same with extras, such as electronic ignition and higher heat control. Styles are available in stainless steel, rattan or wood finishes.

Most patio heaters are built to withstand bad weather and are made of weather resistant rustproof materials like stainless steel and aluminium. You also have to do your bit in taking care of your heater, ensure it’s not left out in the wet weather – you can buy inexpensive covers for them if it isn’t already included in the price.

Entertaining outdoors is becoming more and more popular as going out to dine or meeting friends at a bar is increasingly expensive. Save money and invite your friends around to your place instead, have a barbeque and a laugh amongst people you enjoy being with. Your heater should only take a few days to arrive and you can have everyone around for a get together.
