Weddings simply have to be perfect. Not because it only happens once in a lifetime, but because every woman spends a lot of time during her childhood and adolescent years dreaming of the day her perfect fairytale wedding happens. Organizing a wedding needs meticulous planning from the wedding dress down to the wedding lights. Although making a list greatly helps in prioritising the most to the least important aspect, to a bride, every single detail counts as important as another.

The perfect wedding lights can greatly affect the mood and ambience of the occasion. There are lights for any kind of theme such as LED rope lights and net lights. Hopefully, this article helps in identifying the kind of lights that are exactly what you are looking for. Why lighting on your wedding day is extremely important cannot be stressed enough. For one, lighting makes you look more beautiful than you already are in pictures and in person. And it helps in making your wedding one to remember for those in attendance. Every bride will boast of pride if her wedding is the most talked about wedding amongst her guests because it was just simply fantastic.

Twinkling lights and fairy lights can be an added value to an already sparkling wedding venue. They can be used as drapes hanging from the ceiling, an additional eye candy to those beautifully designed tall vases as the centre piece for tables and can be draped around columns and pillars to increase the romantic and intimate mood. If you want to highlight a particular area or object aside from yourself on your wedding day, for instance, the multiple tiered wedding cake you made yourself, then these lights are the perfect choice.

Curtain lights are also a great way to add sparkle to your wedding venue as it is very diverse and can be used both indoors and outdoors. It is the perfect material than can be used as a partition from one area of the venue to another such as the ceremony area and the reception hall. Curtain lights can be as many or as little as you like and is always a perfect fit to your other lighting decorations.

The colour of lights to be used also greatly adds a beautifying effect on your wedding venue. For instance, if your motif is one of autumn gold and is held in a rustic or medieval banquet hall, the perfect lighting arrangement would be one of the same colours. It simply adds glamour and a warming feel to a castle wedding.

One important area where the lighting needs to be superb is the head table because that is where you will be sitting and it is only appropriate that the bride is centre of attention in all her beauty. Plus, it is where your guests will be focused on for the rest of the reception.

Another important area where the lighting needs to be perfect is the chapel if you choose to hold the wedding ceremony there. Half of your pictures will be taken here and the most important ones too. It is important that you are cast in the perfect lighting so not one photo goes to waste.

Also, do not forget to adorn the entrance of the reception hall with fairy lights or rope lights. For one, it would truly be a fairytale wedding when prior to entering the entrance hall or the main foyer, guests feel like they are entering a place of fantasy. A place that feels so surreal that it will forever be remembered.

Net lights, like curtain lights, are a great way to serve as draperies or around columns and pillars or trees. They are also great lights to throw onto hedges to create a more dazzling effect especially in a garden wedding. Plus, they can also be used to adorn canopies to truly illuminate the evening.

Lighting arrangements nowadays though more intricate and ornate, are actually very simple. Using too many multi coloured lights or overly decorating can make your wedding more like a Christmas event or a variety show than a solemn wedding. Remember, fashion trends today stress that less is more. This not only applies to your wedding gown but your wedding lights as well. Stick to only a few colours to get the most effect.

There are truly a vast variety of wedding lights to choose from out there. From fairy lights to LED rope lights to net lights, all of these make a wedding all the more a wonderful experience. All that is needed is a little creativity to boost the ambience and mood of a truly memorable wedding day. A day that you will forever remember as the day you truly felt like a queen.

Fairy lights, a common United Kingdom term for Christmas lights, evolved from an 1882 Gilbert and Sullivan operetta where tiny star lights adorned the top of fairies heads. But these are really quite distinct from other Christmas lighting. Today, a fairy light is the product name for strings of miniature electric lamps, mostly used for decor and special effects, developed into many varieties as icicle, curtain, cluster or net lights to create an enchanting ambience both indoors and outdoors.

As differentiated from other Christmas lights, such as larger party, lantern or candle lights, fairy lights are miniature but numerous in number and give off a more subdued, but a somewhat widespread illuminating effect that provides a magical ambience to any yuletide or party occasion reminiscent of the 1882 Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. Since those days of Lord Kelvin, so many technological improvements have developed, so that low voltage indoor fairy lights for Christmas trees and other indoor decorations are now readily available for consumer and commercial use. Battery powered lights are practical for table or floral arrangements and also readily available, while weatherproof outdoor fairy lights lend a touch of class and festivity to any patio, gazebo, lawn or garden. Battery or solar powered lights for areas with no nearby power source are also readily available and increasing in popularity.

Light Emitting Diode lights, more commonly known as LED’s, emit virtually no heat and are among the most energy efficient types of fairy light available. Using 90% less electricity than traditional bulbs and providing thrice the brightness, LED lights have mostly replaced filament lights. Continuous day and night usage thus comes at virtually no extra cost. Fabric, fibre, paper, cotton, furnishings and other heat sensitive materials can also be placed in proximity posing no danger as LED lights stay relatively cool to the touch.

Fairly lights can embellish almost anything from ceiling mouldings, window frames, indoor plants, columns, pillars and the like, to patio umbrellas, trellises, trees, shrubbery, hedges and walkways. The only limit is the imagination of the user. Even costumes can be decorating with lights. Fairy string, drape, and cluster lights are often used in theatres around the UK.

The plethora of light colours, shapes, sizes and styles cater for even the most eclectic tastes. From clear, frosty white lights of superbright LED’s, to bold, soft or gradient hues as diverse as the rainbow in single or multi-coloured strings, one can have a pick of so many shapes. For example, pearl, star, flower, strawberry, curtain, cluster and net styles. As time goes on, the list of designs becomes longer and longer. Installation is now much simpler, quicker, convenient and safe with connectible sets of lights. Most fairy lights come with all the cabling and necessary accessories included, making them perfect for the do-it-yourself home owner, so the individual can give the location for an event or party a personal touch. This helps create the desired atmosphere, whether for a small intimate occasion or a large clan gathering, or public event.

It is truly peaceful to come home to a winter wonderland decorated with white icicle fairy lights strung across your walkway shrubs or entrance arbour and eaves. Or simply feel exotic just sipping tea at the patio with a curtain of fairy lights outlining Asian palm fronds in your garden. Set the mood with a floral arrangement interlaced with fairy lights as a centre piece for that candle light dinner or add a more lively sparkle to the birthday celebrations of your children with multi-coloured blinker fairy lights. This is a simple way to make that lasting impression.

More informative details and specifications are at your finger tips online from various established makers and suppliers worldwide. Components such as stock and availability, of course, depend on your locality.

The matter is in your hands and requires only your own unique creativity. There is simply so much you can do and so many designs you can think of when using fairy lights for home decoration. Whether you plan to hang indoor fairy lights onto pillars and columns to make your home a truly magical place to live in or to simply brighten up the patio or the hanging tree branches over the outdoor dining set with outdoor fairy lights for a relaxing evening cup of coffee or tea after dinner, the choices are simply endless. Battery powered fairy lights are also a very popular choice today as it helps reach vast expanses of your estate where electricity or generators are not available. Fairy lights can create a place so magical that it feels like you are living a never ending fantasy of your very own.

The visual effect of an illuminated line in a shop or showroom can be impressive. Some use track lighting stretched over a lengthy distance to create the effect, but there is actually more than one way to accomplish the task.
This article looks that other two methods to produce a line of illumination, with cold cathode the most effective.

There was a time when creating a line of light was not only awkward to set up and rather course to look at, but was also expensive to run. However, today, there are far more stylish and efficient ways to achieve the effect. One common way is the use of track lighting, which places a series of small spotlights on a track on the ceiling. It is generally seen in more up market showrooms and retail units, but fails to create the best impact that one could.

There are a few reasons why this is the case, with the number of lights limited, the cost of each being quite high, and the unfinished look of the overall design often becoming tiring when over used. Thankfully, however, there are more ways to accomplish the effect, and in a more aesthetically pleasing way.

Amongst them is recessed lighting, where lights are set into the ceiling close together to create the line effect. This works well in high street stores too, with a sleeker, runway effect along the ceiling the general result, which often complements the particular interior design and, indeed, the type of products on offer.

But the most effective option is certainly cold cathode lighting, which brings with it too many advantages to ignore. For those who are not in the know, a cold cathode light is not a part of science fiction, though its name might well suggest it is. A cold cathode light is much like a neon light, but it has many more advantages to neon and the other alternative lighting options.

The first relates to the heat that the element generates, with cold cathode generating very little. Normal lighting can result in the element producing so much heat that light materials, like paper, can actually ignite if left over them, while certain materials, such as plastics, cannot be used in close proximity. Cold cathodes remain cool, however, which means that there is no problem with placing materials that are prone to melting near them.

The result is that these lights can be freely used in plastic display cases in stores, or with cardboard, wood or plastic advertising cutouts and displays. They are also capable of being used in generous numbers on walls and ceilings without ever causing darkening or browning to the surface, so the area around the light is always clear and clean.

All of us are familiar with them, of course, though may have mistaken them for neon lights, which boast many of the same attributes. They can be seen in music stores, gaming stores, internet cafes, nightclubs, bars and many signs above independent food stalls in the food courts of shopping malls. We might even have seen vehicles supped up, displaying blue or red lights on the rim of their chassis.

However, a crucial difference with neon lights is that cold cathodes are much more energy efficient, with as little at 22w of electricity burned for every 1m of light. In fact, because electrical resistance reduces as the light burns, their consumption of energy gets lower with as much as 90 per cent less energy consumed compared to ordinary lights.

Also cathodes reach their brightest immediately and remaining there until power is cut off. In fact, in terms of light, cold cathodes give as much as five times the brightness of neon lights, making them far more effective. Research has shown too that they can burn for as long as 50,000 hours without dimming.

The final advantage is that the tubes are designed to clip together, meaning that a continuous line of light can be established. That effect alone can be hugely impressive, and there are examples of seemingly endless lines of light in tunnels at airports and tube stations.

When it comes to establishing a line of light, it is practically impossible to beat cold cathode lighting. However, this distinctive effective makes it unsuitable for some places. Its image is more raw than sophisticated, which is why so many high end shops and venues are reluctant to use them, preferring instead to use the far more stylish track lighting.

Meanwhile, recessed lighting are more effective in showrooms that exhibit furniture or kitchen units, perhaps, but a blue, red or green strip of light is unlikely to convey the sense of comfort that a home should, making the cold cathode counterproductive in enticing viewers to buy.

This article looks at some of the most impressive light bulb developments, and how they have made a difference to home owners.

The development of modern light bulbs has resulted in some of the most impressive products that the pioneers would hardly have believed possible in their day. It is mainly a matter of energy efficient products, which have been embraced by consumers conscious of their carbon imprint. The common incandescent light has been shown to be damaging environmentally speaking, and compared to the florescent and halogen alternatives that are available today, are an unnecessary drain on electrical power.

While these have been important breakthroughs, with some halogen bulbs, there have been other strides made that directly and very positively impact everywhere in the home, from living room, bedroom and bathroom lighting to outdoors, where solar technology has played a major role in making garden lighting an affordable feature.

It would be fair to describe the development of solar lights as one of the most impressive progressions, although solar power is taken for granted these days. However, the effect it has had on lighting in the home and, more specifically outdoors has been huge.

The main advantage is that the power required to run these lights is free, since it comes directly from the sun. It therefore saves money for the owner, while also lending a freedom to place the lights anywhere in a garden or on a driveway without having to facilitate the move with more wiring. The solar cells are usually situated on the roof of the light case, at the top of a short pole with a spiked end, which is pushed into the ground.

The only factors to consider is the need to keep the lights in direct sunlight during the day and to keep its solar cells clear of debris to ensure its storage batteries are suitably recharged. All that this means is keeping an eye on the condition of the solar lights.

Generally, these lights are sold in pairs, since one would have little effect in lighting a garden. However, any number of pairs can be purchased to match the requirements of the exterior area to be illuminated. It means that a pathway can be set in lights through a lawn, or lights can be placed in the middle of shrubberies or flower beds, or even next to water features to enhance the visual effect of the garden.

The LED bulb is another development that has created a host of affordable possibilities. The highly energy efficient bulbs can be used indoors and outdoors, but while their ordinary bulb equivalents will drain a significant amount of voltage to run, LED lights are far more economical with some reports claiming they are 300 percent more efficient. That represents huge savings, while a life span of 25 years means they can be virtually forgotten about once purchased.

Amongst their varied uses are ground spot lights, which are used to mark parking spaces or the margins of a driveway to a home. These lights are recessed beneath a thick plate of glass with stainless steel or chrome finishes, and can be simply driven over by a car. However, the illumination provides a hugely stylish effect. The fact that bulbs of just 3 watts are used shows just how affordable this space age effect is.

Halogen bulbs, meanwhile, have provided a highly affordable option inside the home. Estimated to be as much as 40 percent more efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs, they emit a better quality, cleaner light. They are also capable of lasting more than 2000 hours, with a simple 28w halogen SES candle light emitting 40w of light.

These bulbs are highly popular in almost any room, though they are particularly favoured in bathroom lighting as one bulb can produce a lot of light in what is generally a small room. They are easily placed in spotlights, while the emergence of smart halogen bulbs has meant that light dimming can be accomplished by remote control. Even colour hues can also be altered through this new technology.

When it comes to other areas of the house and home, the modern developments in light bulbs have had an equally beneficial effect. From home lighting powered by energy efficient LED bulbs to garden lighting powered by solar energy, these developments have made a meaningful difference to life and living.

Lighting is important for any business, creating ambiance and inviting customers in. Amongst the many lighting options are recessed downlights, which many consider to be the best because of their many advantages.
This article looks at three advantages that recessed lights have over their alternatives, and explains why they seem to do a better job.

When it comes to lighting a store or business, there are a variety of options available. However, amongst the most popular of them are recessed downlights. There is no doubting their popularity, with many of the higher grade high street stores happy to dot their ceilings and display windows with them.

In fact, most will point to the stylish, discreet designs of the light as the principal reason for choosing them. Certainly, they are more pleasing to the eye than the fluorescent tube lighting that is so common, thanks to the fact that they are subtle in appearance and yet so effective in function.

This subtlety is also a factor in their preference to uplighters, which can be bulky and intrusive in design, especially when the light originates from a wall fixture, and certainly, the quality of their light is lost in the surface of the ceiling. These may work perfectly for intimate restaurants and wine bars, but for a high street store or furniture outlet, such lighting would be highly ineffective.

However, recessed lights are particularly suitable and effective in businesses, even in those intimate locations, and can boast three principal advantages over the alternatives. Namely, that they are perfect for highlighting products, they provide no glare to distract people, and are higher in fire and safety levels.

Recessed lights are basically spotlights. This is because the light produced can only be directed one way, and not radiated around a room in the way that the everyday suspended ceiling light or table lamp does. But rather than it being a disadvantage, this provides a functional advantage with light directed onto specific products or items, thereby helping a business in the marketing process. So, for a shoe store that wishes to highlight their newest line in pumps, for example, the shoes can be placed carefully below a recessed light.

The range of available models includes rotary and gimbal lights which allow the direction of the light to be changed. This means that the position of a highlighted product is not restricted, and the preferred position can be chosen with the light redirected on it for effect. A perfect example is the Altamura recessed gimbal light, which is available in chrome and brass. The gimbal makes it possible for that light itself to be tilted into the desired direction, making it perfectly suited for display and showroom lighting.

Because recessed lighting is set within a ceiling, the light is directed downwards only. The result is that there is no glare from the light bulb itself, which helps to keep attention on the item that is being lit and ensures that there is nothing to distract visitors. For any showroom or retail store, this is a very important factor. After all, the whole idea is to highlight the products for sale without distraction.

Of course, tubular lighting, boasting fluorescent tube bulbs, are also very common in stores, but these tend to be obvious too. Most of the time, these lights are exposed, which can be particularly distracting. They are also often chosen for budgetary reasons rather than reasons relating to interior decor, with the recessed option providing that sense of style.

There are a number of safety aspects to a recessed light that do not need to be considered when choosing a light for a regular ceiling fixture. Because the light is encased in a can within a ceiling, there is an issue of heat, with an increased risk of fire making specific certification essential before they can be installed.

Fire rated recessed downlights are much more desirable, and the majority come with a higher fire safety level than the alternative exposed bulbs that rely on air circulation to help cool the bulb. Having such stringent safety regulations makes the display unit and store altogether safer for employees and customers alike, a factor that can be reflected in a reduction in insurance premium that a business may have to pay each year.

While uplighters may be very effective in creating an intimate setting, these are not so suitable in a place of business such as a showroom. And, while fluorescent tube lighting may be effective in illuminating large areas, at relatively cost effective rates, they do not have the same subtlety of style and modern image that the recessed option has.

A bathroom is one of the most difficult rooms to light, especially when a specific style is preferred. But there are many bathroom lighting options available that provide style while also meeting the required safety regulations.
This article looks at three of the most popular options out there, when style and practical are equally demanded.

When it comes to designing a home, a special approach needs to be made to tackle the bathroom. The reason is simple. Unlike other rooms, there is a greater pressure to meet safety regulations and a desired room style. What this means is that often, with safety rated lighting essential, the selection of bathroom lights seems to be limited. However, that is not to say that dull and uninspiring models are all that are available.

The fact is that the regulations that affect the lighting of a bathroom are specific, but not in the same way as outdoor lighting, for example, which has to contend with adverse weather conditions. There is a vast range of spot lights and other styles available that can amply handle the moisture in bathrooms, while still matching the interior decor.

Smooth domed ceiling lights are amongst the favourites for bathroom designers. The reason is quite clearly the discretion that these lights have, with many contemporary designs preferring a minimalist touch. As a ceiling light, their light tends to fill the room without any sense of source, in almost the same way that the sun would naturally fill a room. However, they are equally effective when used on walls, though this is not the primary position.

A perfect example of this type of light is the Acid bathroom ceiling light. Its convex glass disc is frosted to maximise the softness of the light, and is ringed with a slimline matt chrome finish to add further elegance to the fitting. Of course, as with any electrical fitting in a bathroom, it is IP21 rated, making it suitable 60cm or more away from a bath or shower. Any closer could create a short or a fire hazard.

These lights are typically small in diameter and it is advisable to use more than one in the bathroom, though precisely how many will depend on the size of the room itself. Placing four in a square, each roughly half way between the wall and the centre of the ceiling, is generally considered ideal, but as many as six can be used if the room is large.

Despite the obvious attraction of the ceiling light, it cannot be placed very close to a shower or bath, which creates a problem when it comes to actually using those facilities. However, there are options open to those who wish to place lights above them.

For any electrical fitting for such purposes, an IP65 safety rating is required, which means it is capable to resisting direct jets of water, albeit low powered jets, as well as dust and other potentially damaging ingressions.

In terms of design, the range is filled with varying options that can cater for any particular decor theme. For the urban contemporary look, a chrome spotlight is highly popular and can offer an impressive effect when placed above the shower. Even more impressive is if it is adjustable, allowing the home owner to direct light to any specific area, and thereby affect the use of light and shadow, helping to create a mood.

If a more elegant look is desired, then a square glass covered spotlight is a popular choice. In this case, instead of an adjustable rotary light, the bulb is set inside the recess but is protected by a thick, square glass plate, often frosted to minimise glare.

The plate is screwed securely over the light, which is sealed to protect against splashes or water jets and also dust, meaning it meets with the IP65 rating requirement. The effect, of course, is to create a lighter, airier feeling in the room, making it ideal of smaller bathrooms where making the most of a limited amount of space is preferred.

Designing a bathroom has its own challenges, with so many safety issues to meet compared to a living room, the kitchen or even the external influences that outdoor lighting has to cope with. Safety is, of course, number one and the dangers of having electrical features within a bathroom are clear. That is why it is always best to invest the task of installing bathroom lights to a professional.

However, the need to measure up to regulations does not mean that style must be abandoned. From recessed lights to adjustable spot lights, there is a model to suit any design that a home owner may wish to apply to a bathroom.

For everyone, the desire for greater energy and cost efficiency in the home is strong. After all, it means money is saved and the earth too. When it comes to home lighting, halogen lamps are part of the eco and pocket friendly plan.

Running a modern home requires more than just an eye for decor and a taste for delectable cuisine. It also requires a keen handle on the daily costs that homes can clock up. That is why electricity bills are of such a major concern, and home lighting costs account for a major share of that expense.

With this in mind, it is easy to understand why there is such a range of cost efficient lights and lamps on the market, many of which provide the ideal solution to home owners who want low cost but high quality. The range of floor lamps for any home is vast, most of which can easily accommodate the energy efficient bulbs that are available today. It is the same for wall lights, either for the interior or exterior of the home, which can complement any decor that may be in place. Efficiency, however, dictates an investment in something different, such as halogen bulbs.

There is a tendency to think that the most cost efficient lamp is the cheapest in price, but this is not necessarily true. The fact is that the purchase price is only the initial cost, but the true cost of a lamp is calculated over its lifetime with the number of bulbs and amount of electricity it has used. In this respect, the cost can actually be staggeringly high.

True cost efficiency, therefore, is attained in the long term and involves longer lasting bulbs that use up a smaller amount of electricity. While there are plenty of bulbs on the market that achieve these two factors, design and size actually reduces the amount of options for a floor lamp. However, the emergence of halogen lamps means that it is possible to get greater efficiency in even small bulbs.

The technology involved in halogen lamps revolves around the fact that a halogen gas, usually from iodine, reacts with a tungsten filament in such a way as to create a brighter, cleaner light. Because of this, the actual amount of electricity used can be reduced, with savings estimated to be between 15 and 40 percent depending on the specific light used. This not only means that cost is lower, but the life of the filament itself is increased to almost four times the life of a regular incandescent light bulb.

With such an impressive luminous efficiency, these lights are fast becoming the preferred option for floor and table lamps, under which specific activities normally requiring an intense concentration of sight take place.

This means that good quality light is needed, and the best quality comes from halogen lamps. They are also equally effective on walls, not only as a spotlight but as part of the more contemporary designs, with chrome, brass or stainless steel arms.

The only downside, however, is the high temperatures that these bulbs reach, meaning that extra care is needed to ensure nothing flammable is near to them. It is also advisable not to use halogen lights where the light is reflected back off a wall or ceiling, as the extreme heat can cause blackening to the surfaces and be, in themselves, rather hazardous.

The particular attributes of halogen bulbs means that the designs of lamps, whether they are for the wall, floor or the table, can be quite adventurous. The fact that less voltage is used up means that more than one bulb is often applied to the design, with a typical halogen floor lamps will feature more than one arm. For example, Mother and Child lamps offer both larger lights to illuminate a room, and a smaller spot lamp with which to read or sew. Since this particular style serves two specific functions, they are rapidly growing in popularity.

Whether the specific lighting required is for a floor or table lamp in a study or living room, or is for wall lights for the hallway or even home exterior, there is an energy and cost efficient option available. The use of halogen lamps is highly effective, and there can be no surprise that they are becoming a favourite amongst home owners.

After all, as far as home lighting goes, it is not just a case of keeping the home fires burning to make everyone welcome. Lights can provide just as much warmth in that respect.

Christmas lights actually started as something which only the rich could afford. Centuries ago, what the rich people did was to place ornaments over a tree, and then strategically place candles which were either glued to the tree or stuck with pins to make the candles stay in place. This was the older version of Christmas lights, and was definitely not a fun one. There were a lot of instances wherein the trees would burn and was basically a hazardous way to celebrate Christmas. Also, since candles were a very important and expensive commodity at the time since there was no electricity yet, not everybody could afford to decorate and light their trees.

Thankfully, with the advancement of modern technology, Christmas tree lights are no longer candles and also offer a lot more choices in terms of style and colour. The lights available today also consume less electricity compared to when electric Christmas lights were first invented. There are also battery lights and outdoor fairy lights available to suit the needs and preferences of different people.

A lot of us are familiar with the regular Christmas tree lights which need to be plugged into a wall outlet for it to light up and work. As such, a lot of people had to place their Christmas trees where there was a power outlet nearby, or had to use extension cords which caused cables or cords lurking around. Fortunately, there are now battery lights which give people a lot more flexibility in terms of decorating as you can practically place these lights anywhere and not have to worry about whether there is a power outlet nearby. These battery lights are also great for outdoor use and give a clean and uncluttered look to the decorated, lit area.

As mentioned earlier, one of the advantages of using battery lights is the fact that you can use it anywhere. You can use battery lights as the centrepiece of a table, drape them over curtains and windows, and even use them outdoors as part of your garden lights. You would not have any power cords or extension cords hanging around which could potentially cause you or your guests to trip over them. However, compared to regular electricity powered lights, battery lights need constant attention to ensure that there is still enough power in the batteries for the lights. Plus, how long the lights remain lit is dependent on the battery, compared with electricity powered lights which can stay lit for as long as no power outages occur.

Most of the time, battery lights are smaller and shorter, and have fewer bulbs compared with electricity powered lights. This is because the manufacturers of battery lights need to consider how many bulbs the batteries can support before becoming exhausted. As a result, you cannot cover as much area to light as you would be able to with regular electricity powered light, and you would end up needing to purchase more lights to cover all of the area you want to decorate.

In terms of ease of installation and use, nothing beats battery lights. They are very user friendly and pretty much all you need to do is to place fresh batteries, place the lights over the area you want to decorate, and you are all set. You do not need to worry about getting an outdoor power cord or extension, or have to position the lights in a way that they reach your wall socket. They also offer more decorating options like on wreaths, over tables, draped over curtains, and other places where regular lights which need to be plugged in would cause that particular area to look cluttered and messy. Plus, you would also need to exert extra effort in hiding the power cords, something you will not have to worry about with battery lights.

Thanks to modern technology, battery lights and other forms of lighting like LED lights, outdoor fairy lights, and even energy efficient Christmas tree lights are now available. These lights give you a lot more flexibility and options in terms of decorating the inside and outside of your home, as well as your garden and other areas you would like to spice up.

Come Christmas time, a lot of people will be rushing to stores to buy Christmas lights and other decorations to add a festive touch to their homes, both indoors and outdoors. There are also people who may be in search of or need lights for weddings and other gatherings and celebrations. Lighting is probably one of the decorations that is most often taken for granted and receives very little thought or effort, but is one of the best ways to instantly add and achieve the right ambiance.

When choosing lights for your needs, you should be aware that there are different kinds of lights available, particularly battery operated lights as well as led fairy lights and led curtain lights. Choosing the right lighting for your needs will ensure that you have a fun and festive ambiance. This is where battery powered lights come in. Let us take a closer look at what battery powered lights are and what its advantages are compared to using the traditional ones.

Ease of Use

When it comes to ease of use, nothing beats battery powered lights. This is because unlike the traditional ones which need to be plugged into a wall outlet whenever it is in use, battery powered lights simply require the right size and number of batteries to work. Since you do not have to worry about plugging it in a wall outlet, you can decorate as freely as you want. This kind of lighting is great for wreaths, as well as the centrepiece for tables since there will be no extension cords hanging around which can cause your guests to trip over. Simply arrange the lights in the manner you prefer, plug in batteries, and you are all set.

Flexibility of Decorating Options

What makes battery operated lights a great choice for your home decoration is that you can do a lot of things with it, especially since you do not have to worry about plugging it in a power outlet. You can decorate in any manner you like, instead of decorating around how far your extension cord can reach, or how far your power outlet is. These battery powered lights also give a nice, clean look since there are no cords hanging around which often gives a cluttered look. With battery powered lights, you can decorate curtains, the trees and shrubs in your garden, tables, etc. What you can do with battery powered lights is only limited by your imagination.

An Energy Saver

For parties and other social gatherings, battery powered LED fairy lights are the best choice for decorations. This is because you can save on electricity by using battery operated ones. This is also especially true for occasions which require the lights for a relatively longer time, like occasions and gatherings held during the evenings. By investing in heavy duty batteries, you can leave the lights on for a long period of time or even overnight and not have to worry about their electrical consumption at all.

A Great Money Saver

If you want to save on decorations but do not want to give your home a look that reflects just how much you are willing to spend, choose battery operated lights. This is one smart way to decorate your home for Christmas, as well as for parties, weddings, and other events you may need to celebrate in your home. These lights allow you to save money on decorations not only because of their energy consumption on batteries, but also because they can be used and reused for a long period of time. Floral decorations will wilt and die, ice sculptures will melt, and balloons will eventually deflate, but battery operated lights can be stored away and reused for the next event. Simply dust them off and place a fresh set of batteries and they are good to go like the first day you purchased them. Plus, this kind of lights never goes out of style and can be used for many other purposes.

When decorating your home for Christmas or for other fun and social gatherings which will be held in your home, choose battery powered lights. You can also choose battery powered led fairy lights and led curtain lights to spice up your home. If placed correctly, they can easily create and give the perfect ambiance and help set the right mood for your celebration.

In most functions and gatherings like weddings for example, event lights are one of the decorations that are always included. Just like during Christmas, outdoor Christmas lights as well as indoor ones always grace homes and establishments. There are string lights which serve as outdoor lights and decorations at the same time.

The right kind of lighting can easily make or break any celebration or gathering. Imagine a party with only plain white lights which are overly bright. It definitely is not the kind of lighting you would like to have. This also goes the same for weddings which have multicoloured blinking lights. Choosing the right kind of lights for your event, celebration, or even Christmas is a must. This article takes a closer look at the right way to choose outdoor Christmas lights which you can use for your home and even your garden.

Where You Are Going to Place the Lights

Where you are going to place your outdoor lighting is an important thing to keep in mind whenever you are out to buy Christmas lights. Where you decide the lights will be placed will help you decide on what kind of lights to get. For instance, net lights are a great choice if you intend to place Christmas lights over your windows or roof. For lights which you want to drape over trees or in between trees, string lights are your best choice. There are also LED lights to choose from which saves you a lot of electricity and also lasts a very long time. Where you are going to place your lights is one of the things you need to keep in mind constantly when choosing outdoor Christmas lights.

The Kind of Lights to Buy

Not every home is equipped with wall sockets on every corner, and some people are not too excited about the sight of extension cords all over their place whenever they turn on Christmas lights. So for outdoor Christmas lights, consider getting battery operated ones. These are very low maintenance and only require a simple switch of the button for you to begin enjoying their twinkling lights. You do not have to worry about running an extension cord indoors just to reach the power socket either. Simply plug in the required battery size and you are all set.

Colours and Styles to Choose From

Another thing to keep in mind when choosing outdoor Christmas lights is the colour and style of the lights you will purchase. This is important especially if you want your outdoor decoration to match your indoor decorations and lighting as well. Red and green are the traditional Christmas colours, and there are plenty of lights available that come in this combination. However, if you are interested in achieving a more modern look, lights in a combination of white and blue give a more modern but still Christmas look.

Frosted lights are also something you should consider, as this give, as its name suggests, a frosted or snowy ambiance to wherever it is placed. There are also blinking and steady lights to choose from, giving you plenty of options as to the styles and colours of outdoor Christmas lights to use.

Outdoor Safety for Christmas Lights

Do not make the assumption that Christmas lights will work for both indoor and outdoor use. This is simply not the case. Each year, there are homes damaged because of faulty wiring and not to mention improper installation of outdoor Christmas lights. First of all, make sure that the lights you are purchasing have been tested and certified by a reputable testing organization and have been deemed safe for outdoor use. You should also check out outdoor Christmas lights which have fuses built in along the wires. Extension cords which have been rated safe for outdoor use are the only extension cords you should use whenever you need to plug in your Christmas lights outside. You should also never use nails, metal tacks, or anything of that sort to secure your outdoor Christmas lights. It is best to use insulated hooks. If you are unsure of how to do this, get a professional to install your lights for you.

Having outdoor Christmas lights is definitely a great way for you to decorate your home. Bringing the festive mood outside your home and into your garden and plants makes the occasion all the more fun. Installing string lights between trees and getting event lights is also a great way to spice up any place for a gathering or event.

Staring at a Christmas tree and all of the lights we place over our windows and even gardens may make you think about how people of the older centuries celebrated Christmas. Obviously, there was no electricity at the time, so they definitely did not have any Christmas lights or fairy lights of their own. There were no rope lights that adorned houses during Christmas, or even party lights during gatherings and celebrations.

It has been said that what people used to do during Christmas was to decorate trees and place candles in strategic locations on the tree so that it would illuminate the ornaments which were hanging on its branches. If you think about it, it is not really a very smart way to decorate for Christmas as you risk burning the tree and starting a big fire in the process. There is also the smoke emitted from the candles to consider, as well as the wax that drips from the candles which you will need to clean off and remove. Most importantly, you will need to watch while the candles burn, since strong winds can easily blow the candle out.

Candles were a very expensive commodity at the time, since electricity was not yet invented. Plus, lighting trees with candles are something only the rich could afford at the time, since most people would prefer using candles for a more practical means, like lighting their homes for instance. So, lit trees during Christmas were only for the rich back in the days.

These candles were placed on the branches of trees by either gluing them to the branches, or using pins to make sure that they will stay in place. Eventually, candle holders were used, and then lanterns and glass balls were used as a means to place the candles over the trees. But since trees would eventually dry out, and winds could blow on the candles, this activity which only the rich could afford at the time, eventually became a dangerous fire hazard.

It was around 1822 when Edward Johnson, came up with electric Christmas lights. His invention of the Christmas lights was around 80 bulbs long, it was not really that much compared to what we have today, but it was definitely a big hit back then. In 1917, as a result of a fire caused by candles on a Christmas tree, Albert Sadecca created safety lights which could be used both indoors and outdoors. At first, the bulbs were very big and consumed a lot of electricity, which made it initially available for the rich people.

Over time, with the advancements in technology, smaller bulbs in different colours began to be made and were available. There are blinking lights, and lights that come in a mix of white and blue, red and green, and other festive colours. These fairly lights are now more energy efficient, durable, and definitely safer for use whether indoors or outdoors. Recently, there are now LED lights which are well known for their ability to last for a very long time as well as their very little electricity consumption. These lights are also now available in bendable wires which can be twisted and made to fit any space which will be decorated. There are also frosted fairy lights available, as well as battery operated ones, which serve as a great decoration for both indoor and outdoor use. These frosted lights instantly give a Christmas look and feel to any home.

Over the years, with trial and error, not to mention several burnt trees and even houses, the fairy lights we know today are here. They are smaller, offer more decoration options, and consume a lot less electricity than what they did before. There are also lights specific for outdoor use as they do not heat up at all and are intended for the harsh outdoors. You can choose from rope lights which are great for decorating walls and windows and for wrapping over trees, as well as brightly coloured party lights for your gatherings and occasions. These lights do more than just brighten up the space in your home. They provide an ambiance of fun and are especially great for homes with kids.

Ceiling lighting fixtures come in a myriad of shapes, sizes and designs. The following are the different kinds of lighting fixtures explained, from recessed downlights to ceiling downlights.

A pendant light also known as a drop or suspender is a type of light that is suspended from the ceiling by a cord or chain. The most common pendant light known is one that you see in pool halls over pool tables.

Chandeliers are classic lighting fixtures that are always timeless, intricately designed and elegant. They can be made from virtually any material and are a branched fixture that is normally suspended from the ceiling at one load bearing point. Chandeliers have been known to be used since the medieval ages.

Recessed downlights are usually installed in a depressed hole in the ceiling giving off a softer glow. They can be used to create a floodlight effect or to create a spotlight in a particular area. Recessed lights, when used in the bedroom give off a more intimate and romantic ambience.

Fluorescent lights are commonly used in homes and can be bought almost anywhere. They emit white light and are known to be extremely energy efficient compared to their predecessor, the incandescent light. While it is generally more expensive, fluorescent lights are said to last a long time and in the end tend to save you money.

Ceiling downlights are similar to recessed downlights with the difference of not being recessed. They are usually used as a spotlight for one particular object or area.

Lighted ceiling fans are multi functional lighting fixtures that incorporate the use of a ceiling fan. It is normally designed to hold four or five blades while having four or five light bulbs in the centre. Like chandeliers, these are classic lighting fixtures but can become rickety due to old age and can be extremely noisy.

Incandescent lights are the kind of lights our parents used to use before fluorescent lights were popular. They utilise heat to produce light, is usually yellow and not very energy efficient. In fact they can use four to eight times more electricity than a regular fluorescent light bulb normally uses.

Track lighting is a series of lights installed through the use of a single track. These are most common in office buildings.

Of course choosing the proper ceiling lighting for your home is dependent on how high or low your ceiling is and the overall design of your home. Many ceiling lights are very dynamic and can be used for almost any design style. It also depends on what particular function a room will be used for. Since ceiling lights are always the most used lights in the home, it is equally important to utilise energy efficient light bulbs that can last the wear and tear of everyday use and do not have to be replaced time and time again. Just imagine having to replace incandescent recessed downlights from that extremely high beam on top of your hallway every single week. In a case like this, fluorescent light or LEDs are your best option since they are known to be more energy efficient. If your beam, on the other hand is too low, it is not advisable to use ceiling downlights for fear of drawing attention to that area. Instead utilise another area where you want to draw the attention. Incorporating lighting with your overall interior design is not very difficult to achieve. With a little information from here and there, you will have enough confidence to know what you want and where you want it. But if you need to do some drilling to install new lighting fixtures, the rule of thumb is to sketch it out first and see how you feel about its outcome. It is also important to understand what lighting fixtures go with different design styles. Never ever rush a decorating project. It needs a lot of thought and consideration first before actually going ahead and doing it. You do not want to have to deal with the hassle of drilling a hole after realising it simply does not fit in. Having these areas covered first prior to purchasing new lighting fixtures will help immensely in making the right choice and achieving that kind of self-satisfaction you feel whenever a do-it-yourself project is executed properly.

The rule in achieving perfect lighting in any home is not to scrimp on areas of the house where it is truly necessary, not only aesthetically but because it is necessary. You do not want to walk around slippery areas of the home where you could possibly meet an accident without ample lighting to guide your way. These areas are usually the stairs, the bathroom and the kitchen.

One of the essential elements most commonly overlooked in achieving the perfect bathroom is bathroom lighting. The bathroom is one of the rooms in a house where lighting simply cannot be sacrificed at all. Of course the main purpose for bathroom lighting is to provide visual aid as you walk across the slippery tiles and the wet floor to avoid unwanted accidents. However, there are far more functions that good bathroom lighting can serve.

Bathroom downlights and ceiling lights are a good source for ambient lighting to provide enough light throughout the span of your bathroom. Recessed bathroom downlights are increasingly becoming very popular in the world of interior design and are regarded as an expensive piece of lighting fixture. The truth is if you know where to look, you can find virtually any kind of lighting fixture for any part of the home at a very reasonable price. Some exquisitely designed lighting fixtures do not need to be recessed because they are supposed to be appreciated. Appropriate downlights and ceiling lights help in making a relaxing bath or shower achieve its purpose. They can also aid in creating a romantic and intimate or relaxing ambience for when you need it.

The area above the sink where the vanity mirror is normally located should also have additional lighting support from mirror bathroom lights or wall lights. It is the mirror that you, most often than not, look at the first thing in the morning and the last thing at night. This is also the mirror you look at when you put your make up on or shave that beard or moustache off. This is the reason why it should be the best lighted area more than any other area in your bathroom. You have to be able to see where that mascara smudged accidentally or that one little piece of hair is left on your chin. No woman will be happy to know that her makeup was far too white or far too thick than it looked like while applying it in front of the mirror in a poorly lit bathroom and no man will be happy to nick the side of his chin with a razor blade simply because he could not see well enough.

To put it simply, after getting up from bed, the bathroom is almost always the first room you enter the first thing in the morning before you start your day and even before having breakfast. Having natural lighting entering through the bathroom windows can help set the mood prior to starting your day. You take a reviving shower, have a clean shave or apply makeup and face the world. When you get back, you turn on the bathroom downlights or bathroom ceiling light to help you in having a relaxing shower or bath. Then you are ready to get to bed for a night of rejuvenation. It will always be the same routine every day.

For most people, the bathroom stands as a sanctuary of alone time and is even far more important than the bedroom. That is why having the perfect bathroom lighting for their everyday needs is so crucial to them. Lighting techniques today incorporate functionality, aesthetics, ambience and mood setting as part of the overall design of a home. It is easy to see why. It helps people in terms of improving how they feel about themselves and how they start their daily routine. It plays a big role in improving a person’s everyday life and possibly of those around him or her. Decorating is all about prioritising what is important and what matters to you most. You do not need to go all out at once and it need not be expensive. You can always start on the most important areas first.

Getting Christmas decorations up is not the easiest job to do. In fact, it is a major operation that takes considerable time, at the very least. Making a Christmas lighting display impressive enough is not easy either, but there are more than enough options to choose from that can help realise the very best version of the lighting display in mind. It is just a matter of getting the right lights to make that vision a reality.

When it comes to interior and exterior lights, there are some differences to consider. Not all interior lights can be used outside, due to the damage they may sustain from adverse weather conditions, especially winter weather conditions. There are still plenty of options though, with curtain lights amongst the most striking light sets to be used inside a home. These are not usually used in isolation, of course, with string lights and icicle lights adding to the overall effect. Outside, net lights and durable string lights designed for bad weather conditions can be used, with the use of connectable lights a major plus in terms of power supply and design.

In terms of interior options, these curtains of light can have a very dramatic effect on a room. The curtain can be as wide as 2 metres and as high as 10 metres, with more than 2,000 lights comprising the set giving a sheer light effect. The result is highly impressive, with the door or window behind the wall of light and effectively removed from view and a private, or even intimate, mood created. Different lighting effects also contribute to the desired atmosphere, with a twinkling effect, a cascade effect or a flashing effect.

These curtains are not suitable for outdoor use as they are susceptible to the elements, particularly cold and wet. However, they are double insulated, making them safer for the home. Their cost can vary, depending on their size and quality, but the bulbs used are long life bulbs ensuring the maximum cost efficiency. This type can also be connected to other lights to create a bigger effect, like icicle lights and string lights.

In fact, it is its ability to connect with other lights that makes the curtain so popular. The complete look can involve a variety of designs, colours and sizes, all serving specific purposes in specific areas of the home. For example, string lights can be used on the stairs, the doors and larger windows can be covered by a curtain, while icicle lights can be hung from door frames or from windows. These lights are connected together and controlled by a multi effect star controller, which is necessary if the lights are to be run effectively.

The chief advantage of a connectable capability is that owners can build whatever lighting system they want for their own homes. Based on their own vision of the Christmas illuminations, they can add and replace any segments that they wish, effectively changing or adapting the layout each year without going to the expense of purchasing a completely new set of lights. This provides a freedom to create that box sets can never offer.

When it comes to illuminating the exterior of a home, this connectable aspect is vital as access to a mains power supply may be difficult for all of the light sets at the same time. The fact is that being able to power several at the same time, from the same electrical source, makes a lot more sense, both practically and economically. Running individual sets from separate power sources will increase the electricity being used, and therefore the bill. But, running electricity through the connected sets is far more efficient.

There is no shortage of Christmas lighting options, whether it is to illuminate the inside or outside of the home. With the variety of types and effects available, the overall impact of the finished system can be something amazing, especially with the added effects of a cascading flow of light from curtain lights.

It is a similar story for the exterior of the home, where connectable lights rigged together and run through a controller, flicker in unison and catch the eye of passers by. It is all part of the effort to brighten up the season, and perhaps win some plaudits from neighbours.

Whether it is to light a tree or brighten up a birthday party, these lights have always impressed. This article looks at why the Christmas light has prospered, developing into the brilliant LED technology that illuminates today's parties.

Illuminating Christmas trees is not a modern concept, but in fact stretches back over 300 years. What is modern is the method by which we do it. The old wax candles, which were attached to branches, have now been replaced by the miniature electric Christmas lights that we have today. Our love of lighting up Christmas is long established but with superior lighting options now easily affordable, we have embraced it even more.

It was not until festively decorated Christmas trees became popular in Germany, in the early 19th century, that any real development of fairy lights was made. Interestingly, these lights were christened fairy light because they were first used to illuminate the costumes of fairy characters in a the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta in 1882. Now, the technology involved in lighting up the average yuletide pine has come some way, with the quality of light produced by led net lights, for example, hugely impressive.

Though the history of Christmas illumination is relatively long, it was not until electricity was properly distributed to the public and became affordable to the masses that electric lights started to become common. That was in the 1930s, but the truly affordable decorative versions only flooded the market in the 1970s. Since then, progress has been steady, with the variety of their colours, designs, effects and uses expanding continuously. With that, their popularity at events with no Christmas links, like wedding and general parties, has also increased.

In fact, it is their versatility more so than their affordability and design that is responsible for their popularity. These lights have effectively moved off the tree and into the party room, enhancing birthday parties, special events and other types of celebrations.

Led technology has played a key role in this upsurge in popularity. The quality of the led light is simply greater, emitting a light that is more brilliant than its predecessor, while offering an efficiency that slashes electricity bills and gives the lights a longer life span. Led lights can last up to 30 times as long as regular lights, and uses only 20 percent of the energy.

They are safer too, with the lights remaining cool even during long periods of use, thereby effectively removing the risk of fire when situated close to paper or other flammable material. They are also double insulated to protect against the elements, and general wear and tear.

As well as that, led lights are elegant and beautiful, emitting colours from soft satin white to striking ruby red to cool electric blue, while the range of designs are equally inspiring, allowing the consumer to drape hedges and cover houses. They are available as ropes of light, curtains of light and nets of light, a selection that provides the widest number of decorative options.

The net designed lights are amongst the most popular, coming in sizes that can successfully convert a drab wall into a glamorously illuminated backdrop. Since they can cover an area of 3m sq, it can also over large tables, areas of ground, small trees and even some parked vehicles. They are especially popular at Christmas time, as the white light version can be used to depict a snowy terrain, or give the illusion that the roof of a house is covered in snow.

These led net lights can also be connected to create a giant web, big enough to cover large areas. However, despite the increased size, they retain their cost efficiency because they use just one plug in the main electricity supply to power as many as 3000 lights simultaneously. The net wires, through which the power runs to each light, can be fine, making it almost undetectable, a fact that only adds to their visual quality. They can also be joined by other designs, like icicle lights and curtain lights, thereby making it possible to build one fully connected range of lights for maximum affect.

Although the tradition that Christmas lights have been part of for so long has clearly stood the test of time, modern led technology has helped these fairy lights to prosper. However, it is their range of uses, moving away from just illuminating Christmas trees to illuminating any occasion one cares to mention, that tells us they are here to stay.

There is a general impression that Xmas lights are for the festivities of late December only, but this is not true as fairy lights can be used at any time. However, it is true that rarely is there an event that demands such a large investment in lighting for such a long period of time. For this reason, lights are expected to last for several years, and home owners will find themselves collecting additional pieces to build the overall decoration that will impress neighbours and passers by.

The fact that the Xmas period lasts for almost a month provides the perfect excuse to invest in elaborate lighting displays, while the fact that the event comes around every year also makes an investment worthwhile. Weddings may make use of wedding lighting, but it is ideally a once in a lifetime event and anniversaries rarely get the same treatment. The good news, of course, is that any net, curtain or string lights that might be used at a wedding reception can always be used as additions to Xmas decor too.

In fact, adding to the lights for Xmas is normal. The variety of designs and colours to choose from, means that practically any effect can be achieved, with only imagination and perseverance the added necessities. So, when lights from various occasions are added together, the effect can sometimes be quite unique. Fairy lights can create an impressive winter scene, while LED lights along the differing lengths of wiring gives a string effect that, when hung from a ceiling, looks like icicles. Netted wiring, meanwhile, with soft white lights at each junction hung over a wall can create a snowy backdrop.

These types of lighting can be displayed indoors or outdoors, with the latter option very popular. Netted lights are sometimes used on roofs to suggest tiles are covered with snow, with the icicle effect used on gutters and window sills. The most common types will display a mixture of colours, though invariably the festive colours of green, red and yellow are included, with a selection of lighted props to complement the overall effect. It can become a huge undertaking, and in some countries, for example the USA, there is a competitive edge to it all, with neighbourhoods holding competitions with valuable prizes on offer.

Building such impressive displays is where adding to the collection each year becomes particularly valuable. Strings of lights are connectable and simple to light together, with as many as 100 bulbs per string and as many as 30 strings capable of being joined. This allows the lights to literally wrap around a home, cast a web over a large blank surface, or be laid down to a specific design. These string sets can also boast a range of lighting effects, like cascading, blinking and flashing. The LED lights are weatherproofed for outdoor use, are double insulated for safety and can use as much as 80 per cent less energy, thereby keeping the electricity bill down.

Lights that are used at other events during the year are also a viable addition. Red stringed LED lights can be perfect for Valentine’s Day, but they can also be connected to the Xmas display to fill a certain segment of an overall lighting plan. Lights with a variety of colours can be great for a kids party, but can be equally as useful on an Xmas tree.

Meanwhile, wedding lighting like short strips of 20 battery lights, which worked so well on the dining tables that the wedding guests sat at, can be used to illuminate the dinner table, or individual items in the home, like the drinks cabinet, the stairwell or the dining table itself.

Building a collection of lighting options for Xmas makes a lot of sense, as it allows for bigger and more elaborate lighting displays to be put up. Through the use of connectable string lights, which can cater for so many variables in terms of design, these other lights can be absorbed easily into the festive show. In the end, it will save money and save on the stress involved in shopping for new lights.

However, the collective effect provided by the whole collection of Xmas lights is what everyone is most impressed by.

The history of the use of lights at Christmas goes back quite a way in time. Before electricity was even invented, candles were used during the holiday season as decoration around the house. It would have been impossible back then to predict the kind of Christmas lighting that is available today, when everyone was using just candles.

Before Christmas fairy lights were even invented, many people around the world were using candles as a way to celebrate and help spread the Christmas cheer. These candles created a festive glow that people of all ages could enjoy and respect. There were no battery fairy lights back then, so people had to use what they had at their disposal to help show their holiday joy. Candles were even used as ornaments on trees back then, which is an obvious fire hazard. This became especially hazardous to the surrounding people when the Christmas trees would start to dry out. This made the trees much more flammable and created a huge amount of danger whenever fire was close by. Nowadays, we do not have to worry about flammable candle decorations because we have LED battery lights and other rope lights available that do not pose any serious threat to becoming a fire hazard. In the early days of Christmas lighting, only the wealthy could afford candles, so it was something only done by the rich and famous. We now live in a time where almost anyone can easily celebrate the holidays with some readily available Christmas decorations.

Small glass lanterns were eventually used to help increase safety standards around the house and help prevent fires from breaking out during the holiday season. An assistant of Thomas Edison was actually one of the first individuals to create a strand of Christmas lights. It was about eighty lights long and was able to spread Christmas joy for the first time through the use of electricity. In 1917, there was a terrible fire that ended up leading Albert Sadecca to creating safety lights for the holidays. These would turn out to be a much safer option when trying to celebrate Christmas and led to the creation of the largest lighting company in the world, NOMA Electric Company. Since these new lights were safe and powered by electricity, they were the first lights that began to be used outdoors for decoration. Candles could not be used outside because they could start an outdoor fire or they would go out when it began to rain. These new safety lights started to appear all over the place. Rooftops, shrubbery, and trees all started to get covered with this Christmas decor, which made all the neighborhoods much more festive than they had ever been before. Light bulbs had originally been large and huge consumers of energy, but these smaller safety lights offered an option for those less fortunate who could not afford the larger lights used by the more wealthy individuals around the neighborhood.

Colour trends have definitely changed and evolved in the world of Christmas lights over the course of their short history. In the early days, fairy lights were made of mixed colours and the bulbs started out much larger than the ones we normally see today. Blue and white have been the two most popular colours for Christmas lights over the years. Single color strands of lights are the most popular, but mixed color lights are still available for those looking for something different. Net lights for shrubbery were the next innovation, which made decorating any trees or bushes much easier than it had ever been before. After that, light icicles were created to place hanging from the roofs of homes all across the land. The icicles are a very popular form of Christmas lighting to this day and are often used to help light up a home in Christmas joy. The latest innovation in Christmas lighting has been LED lighting. These lights help conserve more energy while still emitting a hot white light.

Fairy lights have come a long way from their roots, and everyone should be very thankful for the things we have today. Instead of using hazardous candles, we can now use battery fairy lights to light up the inside or outside of a home. LED battery lights are the latest piece of Christmas light technology, but they surely will not be the last. Christmas lights will continue to evolve, just like everything else in the world. It will be interesting to see what the next step in the world of Christmas lights will be.

On the big day, it seems that everything needs to be perfect. The littlest thing wrong with a wedding day can throw the bride, or even the groom, for a loop because they have waited so long for this day to arrive. Wedding lights are a key to making that day very special, and the use of fairy lights are very popular in these situations to add a classic appeal to the entire affair. The lights used at weddings are often similar to Christmas tree lights, and there really is not much difference between their appearance and how they are used. When the flowers are ready, the guests have arrived, and you are about to walk down the aisle, the setting needs to be perfect so that it will be a positive memory in your mind for the rest of your life. The lights can add a sparkle and ambiance that cannot be achieved by flowers or other backdrop accessories. Any kind of atmosphere can be created by wedding backdrop specialists, and you can even add your own unique touch if needed to make that day exactly how you always wanted it to be. Sophistication and luxury are key to most weddings, and the perfect lighting can sometimes be the key to making your wedding the definition of class.

No part goes unnoticed during a wedding, and everything will be looked at and gazed upon for hours by the guests before the festivities actually begin. Even the napkin holders need to be perfect on wedding day because no one ever wants to say their wedding could have been better. Any wrong touch or addition to the backdrop can jeopardize the entirety of the wedding day. The backdrop of the wedding is the focal point for the big event because that is what will be behind the bride and groom as they say, I do. It needs to be able to perfectly captivate the moment and let it live that way forever through pictures and videos. The atmosphere of the wedding is personified by the backdrop and everything else is really just an accessory. Backdrops with lighting in them are able to create a superb looking wedding that add the perfect amount of elegance with the simplest of touches. By using fairy lights combined with reefs and other flower arrangements, the perfect backdrop can be created for the bride and groom to kiss.

The lights that are added to the backdrop can be used to set what type of mood the wedding will have. A great choice to go with in this situation is to bring down the house lights at the wedding and allow the backdrop lighting to put somewhat of a spotlight on the proceedings main event. The lighting can control the mood of the wedding, so after the deep, romantic moment of the actual ceremony is over, brighter and more colorful lighting can be used at the reception. This is a route that has been taken many times at many weddings over the years, and has been proven to create the right moods for each part of the day. There does not need to be any worries about what specific ways the lighting should be used in the backdrop because each wedding needs to have its own unique flavour. With a lighting design coming from the bride or groom, the atmosphere will be sure to be a unique one for everyone involved.

Fairy lights or Christmas tree lights are the best way to set the mood at any wedding. By decorating the entire area, the house lights can be dimmed down to create a deeply romantic mood that will make a wedding be one that will be remembered forever. Wedding lights are a main key to the success of the ceremony and reception, but as long as the lighting it set up the way the bride and groom want it, it will be sure to have a positive effect on their entire day. In fact, it will have a positive impact on the rest of their lives as they look back and remember that day for years to come.

It seems that every year around Christmas time that everyone wants to have the biggest and brightest house on the block. Everyone wants their home to look beautiful for the holidays, which means Christmas lighting will be used to illuminate the house and really make it stand out. Sure there are other forms of decoration people can put around the house, but curtain lights, rope lights, and other forms of Christmas lighting are the real hallmarks of Christmas decoration. There are many simple tips people can follow if they want their house to be the talk of the town around Christmas time.

While indoor lighting is also important, the outside lights are sure to be the main attraction around Christmas time. The key to a successful holiday lighting setup is planning everything out before putting it into action. There are many different routes one can choose to take when thinking about how they want to decorate their house. The colour scheme is a main component of the setup that needs to be thought out in advance because the homeowner will want to make sure everything blends together well when it is all put together. There are usually two options when it comes to the colour of the lights. You can go colourful with some red, green, or other colours, or you can choose to go with the classic white lighting. The classic white is probably the Christmas light colour that is used at most homes because it helps depict that relaxing Christmas mood to those who view the house. The colour scheme is something that definitely needs to be planned beforehand just to make sure everything flows together. A nice colour scheme will be sure to add some continuity with all of the decorations around the house. Another option to think about with the lights are whether or not they will be blinking. Some lights can blink and draw more attention to the home, which can sometimes help draw in more people who go around looking at all the Christmas lights in the neighborhood.

The inside of the house can also be used for Christmas decorations during the holidays. Some of the best Christmas lighting is created on the inside of the house where electric candles are very popular during the winter season. These candles give all the elegance of real candles while preventing a fire hazard from ever becoming a problem. A nice centerpiece can be placed in the middle of the dinner table with ornaments and holiday fruits combined with some sort of electric lighting. This would be impossible with a candle because the rest of the decoration would be set on fire. Curtain lights are also a nice addition to any home that can be viewed by people inside and outside of the house. One classic decoration that does not involve lights but should be included in any home during Christmas time is adding bells to the front door of the house. This will add cheerful sounds to the home every time someone enters, and will put thoughts of Santa Claus in the minds of all the children in the house.

Christmas lighting is really the mold that helps glue everyone together during the holiday season. It is something everyone can relate to, and there is nothing else in the world that is as good at making you feel like a little kid again. Curtain lights and other types of Christmas lights like rope lights will bring the Christmas cheer to anyone who comes to visit your home. In fact, even the people just passing by the house will be able to feel the Christmas cheer inside your home because it will be displayed on the outside of the house. Wreaths, Christmas trees, and ribbons are all great decorations for Christmas time, but they do not stand out as well when there are no Christmas lights. They need the lights to bring attention to them, so everyone can feel that cozy feeling of the Christmas spirit. Christmas lights are simply a must have for any home during the month of December.

Anyone looking to throw the perfect Christmas party this year should invest in some festive party lights to make sure the right mood is set for the guests. Everyone has their own ideas about how to make a party a success, but during the holidays, there is one known fact that rings true with all parties. This is the fact that outside Christmas lights are a must and are the most important aspect of a holiday event. While interior lighting is not as important, some other festive decorations usually work well for the inside of the house. When it comes to outdoor lighting, normal Christmas lights that are plugged in at the wall usually work well, but the inside of the house would be better if complemented by battery lights. These kinds of lights are battery powered, so they do not need to be plugged in. This will allow more flexibility on where lights will be added. Also, guests will not be tripping over wires as they walk into the house. Whether you are talking about lights for inside or outside, any kind of festive lights are likely to put everyone in a cheerful and joyous mood for the party.

The Christmas season is usually rather hectic and busy for many people who work, which is why low house lighting and extra Christmas lights are a great idea for a party around this time of year. This kind of setting helps people relax and enjoy the happiness of everyone around them. Unique lighting effects should be used as often as possible because they will allow a party to turn out nice and pleasant for all those involved. Anyone looking to go the extra mile this year will need to find something other than the traditional green and red lights around the house. LED lights are a relatively new innovation in Christmas lighting that allow people to save money on their electricity bill every year. They also come with a variety of colours that can help add a sort of uniqueness to any home that decides to use them.

It is always pretty easy to set the right mood for a Christmas party because everyone is always already in a great mood around this time of year. An open mind and creative thoughts are all that are needed to decorate the next big Christmas party, and everyone is likely to enjoy whatever new lighting setup is created for the party. While outdoor lights are always a first good step, you never want to overdo it and make a house visible from space. Christmas is the easiest theme to create a party for as there are so many standards already instilled in the history of Christmas parties that are likely to be a hit at every single one of them for the rest of time. As long as the right Christmas colours are used and the right amount of decor is placed around the house, any holiday party is a sure bet to be a big hit. In many cases, less is more when it comes to Christmas parties, so try not to get too out of control with the decorations inside. The outside of the house is where the real creative juices can get flowing and create something to share with the entire neighborhood.

Lighting is an important aspect of any party during the year, but it is definitely the most important aspect of all at a Christmas party. Electric candles are a great touch for the interior of a house during the party because they add a bit of Christmas class without the unnecessary fire hazard. The lighting should be low at a Christmas party, so the tree glows more noticeably and can help light up the emotions of everyone gathered around. Outside Christmas lights will do wonders for welcoming the guests to the party and the party lights on the inside of the house will be able to keep them satisfied once they decide to come inside. Battery lights are perfect for events like these because they allow the host to quickly setup some extra lighting in creative spots that do not need to be plugged into a wall. Since these lights are not used all year round, one does not have to worry about running low on battery life.

When people think of the happiest time of the year, they almost always think of Christmas right away. Everyone loves outdoor Christmas lights and how they can brighten up the night. People seem to simply be in a much better mood when it is almost Christmas time and the New Year is just around the corner. The atmosphere around this time of year is simply magical. Tragedy does not take any breaks during the year though, so people should remember to still be careful when they are doing things such as setting up a rope light or other types of Christmas lights. The end of December is actually one of the most accident prevalent times of the year because of all the people outside setting up their Christmas lights. It is a sad reality, but many people get into accidents involving ladders or poor wiring on the lights. No one wants to see a house burned down or an injured family member, so it is important to keep as many safety tips in mind as possible. A safe holiday break will lead to a happy Christmas and New Years Eve.

One thing to keep in mind when setting up lights for the Christmas season is to remember that electricity is very powerful and can lead to death in the wrong hands. It is important to stay away from live wires and make sure that the electric plugs are not overloaded with lights and other electronic devices. It is extremely important to always think about the placement of wires during the Christmas season. Wires seem to be going all over the place inside and outside of the house during this time of year, so it is important to try and make sure they are put out of harm’s way as much as possible. Also, it is important to not overload the power outlets in the house. An overloaded power outlet with plugs and wires hanging out can be both an electric and fire hazard. This kind of situation can be especially hazardous for kids and young children. Although an accident is very unlikely to happen, the proper precautions should always be taken into account.

The proper placement of lights around the house is very important to holiday safety. This is especially true for outdoor lights because that is where most holiday accidents tend to occur. Outdoor Christmas lights are always a joy to behold, but it is always important to place them in safe spots around the house. Never try and use staples or nails to attach the lights to the house because that method will end up removing the rubber cover over the wiring. Once the rubber cover is ripped off, a set of lights are basically a hot electrical current ready to electrocute anyone who touches them. Another side note that should be mentioned is that the lights are likely to stop working without their rubber covering guarding them from breaking. This is the situation where most Christmas accidents occur, so if someone is going to follow one safety tip for this year, this would be the one.

Outdoor Christmas lights always bring people together, so it is important to be safe when handling them. If safety concerns are not thought about in advance, the happiness everyone feels around the best time of the year will be replaced by tragedy. A rope light is usually involved in most Christmas accidents, so be careful when setting up that kind of lighting around the house. It is recommended that people should not set up lights alone to avoid any real damage occurring during the setup process. Once the lights are set up, they bring joy and happiness to everyone around. One of the best ways of sharing love during the holiday season is through the use of festive lighting. As long as safety precautions are considered before the decorating begins, the lighting on a house is likely to be a huge success. Following some simple safety tips allow people to have peace of mind while enjoying the holidays.

When it comes to home lighting it can feel difficult to know what move to make. With so much choice available including styles, materials, types of bulb and varieties of light it can be impossible to know what the best option for your needs will be. Ceiling lights are a popular type of light and most often the type chosen for the main light in a room. Even just this one option however comes in a range of styles, materials and budgets. This article will act as a guide to ceiling lights and the different types available. If you want to know more about ceiling lights then you have definitely come to the right place.

First of all there are chandeliers available. These hang in the centre of the room and add an instant elegant touch. They draw the eye into the centre of the room immediately, especially if a very large or decadent type is chosen. If you like the vintage look then there are black or red chandeliers available that can really bring the room together. If you prefer something a little less “showy” there are ranges of hanging pendants that may suit you better. These can be either contemporary designs incorporating metal, glass and other interesting materials or there are a host of classic designs available too.

If you like the glass or crystal effects of a chandelier but aren’t keen to have an actual chandelier in your home then there is a good crossover you can choose. Having a hanging light made of crystal and glass can provide exactly what you are looking for. The same eye catching centre piece is created but in a much more contemporary way. This could be the solution you have been after. Hanging lights such as this are suitable for any room in the house, from over kitchen tables to hallways to bedrooms. They provide a unique and exciting way to light the rooms in the house – a modern twist on the elegant classic.

It is very important that you take into consideration the height of the room when you are choosing lights to hang. If the ceilings are very low then a hanging light may be out of the question from the outset. In this instance you may do far better with some downlights or spot lights. Another great alternative to a hanging light in a low ceilinged room is a light with a shade that fits flush to the ceiling. Flush fitting ceiling lights not only look great but they add a point of interest to the interior of the room.

Whatever type of light you are looking for, you will want to have the greatest choice available to you when you make the purchase. In order for this to happen you need to buy online. Here you will find a great choice combined with excellent prices. Online shops generally have lower overheads than high street shops so the savings can be passed onto the customer. They are also likely to have more stock as they don’t need to rent floor space to have it. Throw in delivery to your door and you have plenty of reasons to shop online rather than visit your nearest high street shop. You can buy all your lights in one easy purchase saving you time and money.

There are many different types of ceiling lights available for the home. Whatever type you want or need you should make sure you shop online. Here you will find the best deals on all lights from bathroom ceiling lights to cabinet lighting and of course ceiling lights. If you want your home to create an impact it is important you get the lighting just right. Make a plan and then go online to see what you can find.

When you hear the term spotlight, it is easy to think about a harsh beam of light used on football pitches or on the stage. In fact spot lights can be used in a number of ways throughout the home. There are a few different types of spot light available ranging from large outdoor lights to elegant indoor varieties. There are many ways a spot light can be used to provide the perfect lighting in the home. Read this article to find out more.

Spot lights are a popular light to use in hallways, sitting rooms and kitchens. Any room in the house in fact can benefit from having a spot light or two. Often people choose to have this type of lighting as the main lighting, to be turned on as you enter the room or the house. In addition they may have some lamps or side lights that can be used if required. Lighting a room this way provides flexibility. By having the spot lights you have good task lighting available, but having the option of other lights means mood lighting can be created if preferred. When entertaining guests or just watching some television in the evening, having only a few lamps on can create the perfect atmosphere.

In kitchens spot lights provide excellent task lighting. Over the cooker and over the counter tops it is very important that you have good lighting. If not you won’t be able to see what you are cooking or chopping! Spot lights make excellent task lights and are therefore perfect to use. The same is true in the bathroom. This is another room in the house that needs good task lighting for seeing into the mirror and applying makeup. Spot lights are a good option. Having an additional light around the mirror or above the mirror is a good idea too. Whatever type of light you buy for the bathroom however it is very important that you purchase ones especially designed for this purpose. If not you could be at risk due to all the water and steam in the room.

Sometimes in houses the ceilings are extremely low. If you do have tall ceilings then you may be able to consider hanging lights or pendants, but if you don’t have that option then spot lights can make an excellent solution. They can be installed as excellent accent lighting too so for example your favorite pictures can be lit up with a spot light. Nothing creates character and interest in a room more than lit up features and bright lights shining on the most important items. They can also be shone on mirrors to help make the room appear larger. This is a very neat trick that works well to create the illusion of size.

In the garden there are plenty of outside spot lights available too. These can be used to light up trees and statues and generally make the outside space around your home look stylish and inviting. Having lights up outside is important if you want to use it as a nice dining area and place to entertain. Spot lights can help you achieve this. Just like in the bathrooms however, the spot lights need to be designed especially for outdoor use for safety. The lights need to be able to withstand the elements including the wind and the rain.

There are many ways that spotlight lighting can be used in the home to create an attractive look. It can be used as both interior lighting and exterior too to create dramatic accent lighting or cosy atmospheric lighting. Whether you choose recessed downlights or spot lights there is a good choice available online where you will also find good deals available.

What do you choose when it comes to bathroom lighting? Do you go for bathroom downlights, wall lights or lights on a dimmer switch? Maybe there are other types of light you would prefer. With so much choice it can be impossible to know what to choose. This article provides help and guidance for anyone struggling to choose lighting for their bathroom at the moment. Here you will find tips for the best kind of effects as well as information about where to buy all your lights in order to receive the best deals. Read on to find out more.

So you want a bathroom that is a well designed and decorated just like the rest of the house. As with the rest of the house, the lighting has a lot to do with the overall look of the room. The first decision to make is what layout you are going to have in the bathroom. If you are having a bath and shower for example then your lighting may be affected. If your bathroom has not been plumbed in yet then make a little drawing of what it will look like on a piece of paper. With this in hand you can make some decisions about lighting. You need to think about how you want the room to feel. Do you want a light, bright, minimalist type space that encourages you to get in and out of the bathroom as quickly as possible? Would you prefer a calmer environment on the other hand, perhaps even a spa feel. Bathrooms are a good place to relax. Having a bath after a stressful day is a great way to unwind. If this sounds more like what you are after then you may want to consider dimmer switches.

Having lights with dimmer switches means you can have bright lighting to carry out your tasks in the bathroom, but can have darker lighting when you want to relax and unwind in the bath. Dimmer switches offer the perfect solution. If you are more the type of person who wants a bright bathroom then you may prefer to use bathroom downlights on the ceiling and have a light over the mirror too. These are the perfect lights to use if you want good task lighting throughout the room.

Whatever type of lighting you choose it is very important that it is designed especially for the bathroom. Electricity can be dangerous around water, so you need to purchase lights that can withstand all the steam and damp that is in the room. Choosing normal lighting that would be used in other parts of the house can even be dangerous.

When it comes to buying your lights the advice is simple. Search online for all your lights. Whatever you are looking for and whatever your style and budget there are shops online that provide the greatest choice and the best prices too. If you can purchase all your lights from the same place then delivery can be made altogether. This can save you plenty of time and money and not to mention hassle. Shopping online is safe and easy and as long as you choose a company that has good customer service then you are sure to be in safe hands. Having delivery right to your doorstep is very helpful and many online stores offer free delivery if a certain amount has been spent. You should take advantage of this offer too where possible!

There are many different types of bathroom lighting to choose from. Your style and budget will affect what you choose. Whether it is bathroom downlights you are looking for or want something like bathroom mirrors with lights then you should shop online for the best choice and best prices available.
